Henry Synge was the son of John Synge and Frances Steele.1 He died in 1883, unmarried.1
Henry Synge gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Egyptian Gendarmerie.1 He gained the rank of in the service of the 52nd Regiment.1 In 1875 at Salonika, Greece, he was captured by brigands, and a £15,000 ransom was paid by the British Government.1
