     Joan Myrtle Stuart is the daughter of Donald James Stuart.2 She married Derek Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 2nd Baron Dowding, son of Air Chief Marshal Hugh Caswall Tremenheere Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding and Clarice Maud Williams, on 17 February 1940.1 She and Derek Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 2nd Baron Dowding were divorced in 1946.1
     From 17 February 1940, her married name became Dowding.

     Piers Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 3rd Baron Dowding was born on 18 February 1948.1 He is the son of Derek Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 2nd Baron Dowding and Alison Margaret Bannerman.2 He married Noriko Shiho in 1973.1
     Piers Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 3rd Baron Dowding was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He graduated from Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts, U.S.A., with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Dowding, of Bentley Priory, co. Middlesex [U.K., 1943] in 1992.1 He was Professor of English in 1999 at Okayama Shoka University, Japan.1
