     Maud Caroline Tremenheere was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Charles Tremenheere.² She married Arthur John Caswall Dowding, son of Reverend B. C. Dowding and unknown Caswall, in 1880.¹ She died on 20 September 1934.¹

     Her married name became Vancourt.³ From 16 February 1918, her married name became Dowding.

     Derek Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 2nd Baron Dowding was born on 9 January 1919.¹ He was the son of Air Chief Marshal Hugh Caswall Tremenheere Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding and Clarice Maud Williams.² He married, firstly, Joan Myrtle Stuart, daughter of Donald James Stuart, on 17 February 1940.¹ He and Joan Myrtle Stuart were divorced in 1946.¹ He married, secondly, Alison Margaret Bannerman, daughter of James Bannerman, on 7 May 1947.³ He and Alison Margaret Bannerman were divorced in 1960.³ He married, thirdly, Odette L. M. S. Houles, daughter of Louis Joseph Houles, on 17 December 1961.³ He died in 1992.¹
     Derek Hugh Tremenheere Dowding, 2nd Baron Dowding was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War.³ He was educated at Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, Lincolnshire, England.¹ He retired from the military in 1956, with the rank of Wing Commander, late of the Royal Air Force.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Dowding, of Bentley Priory, co. Middlesex [U.K., 1943] on 15 February 1970.³
