     Umberto III, Conte di Savoia was born on 1 August 1136. He was the son of Amadeo III, Conte di Savoia and Maud de Viennois.1 He married Gertrude de Flandre, daughter of Thierry d'Alsace, Comte de Flandre and Sybilla d'Anjou, in 1155. He and Gertrude de Flandre were divorced before 1162. He died on 4 March 1189 at age 52.
     Umberto III, Conte di Savoia succeeded to the title of Conte di Savoia in 1148.1
