     Major Gerald Fitzgerald, 17th Knight of Glin was the son of John FitzGerald, 16th Knight of Glin and Honora O'Connor.2 He married Joan O'Brien, daughter of Donough O'Brien.1 He died in 1689, killed in action.1
     Major Gerald Fitzgerald, 17th Knight of Glin succeeded to the title of 17th Knight of Glin.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Limerick City in 1661.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Limerick in 1680.1 He fought in the Battle of Windmill Hill in 1689, after the Siege of Derry.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Limerick in 1689, in King James II Patriot Parliament.1
