Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice was born on 11 May 1861.1 He was the son of Robert Fitzmaurice and Thomasine Taylor.2 He married Ida Dickinson, daughter of Colonel Edward Dickinson, on 2 February 1911.1 He died on 17 November 1924 at age 63.1
Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of Medjidie (2nd Class) in 1901.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1902.1 He was invested as a Knight Bachelor in 1912.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1919.1 He was an engineer, connected with many notable engineering undertakings, including the Forth Bridge and Asswan Dam.1
