     Matthew Franks was born in 1768.2 He was the son of Thomas Franks and Catherine Day.3,1 He married Mary Fergusson, daughter of Robert Fergusson, on 31 October 1803.2 He died on 25 March 1853.2

     Sir John Franks was born in 1769. He was the son of Thomas Franks and Catherine Day.2,1 He married, firstly, Catherine Franks, daughter of Thomas Franks and Margery Harte.1 He married, thirdly, Sarah Wollaston O'Regan, daughter of William O'Regan.3 He married, secondly, Jane Marshall, daughter of John Marshall.3 He died on 11 January 1852.3
     He was invested as a Queen's Counsel (Q.C.).1 He held the office of Judge of the Supreme Court [Bengal].1
