Sir James Dunbar of Mochrum, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir George Dunbar of Mochrum, 2nd Bt. and Janet Young.2 He married Jacobina Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton of Newton, on 31 October 1760.1 He died on 16 April 1782.1
Sir James Dunbar of Mochrum, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Dunbar, of Mochrum, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1694] in October 1747.1 He held the office of Judge-Advocate of Scotland in 1768.1
