     Major Patrick Millington Synge was born on 17 September 1910.2 He was the son of Edward Millington Synge and Agnes Freda Helen Molony.1,2 He married Margaret Georgiana Chenevix Trench, daughter of Colonel Arthur Henry Chenevix Trench and Dorothy Pauline Steel, on 14 April 1944.1 He died on 16 August 1982 at age 71 at Chichester, Sussex, England.1,3
     He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He gained the rank of Major in the Intelligence Corps.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1943 and 1945.2 He was editor of the Horticultural Journal between 1945 and 1970.2 He was editor of the Royal orticultural Society Dictionary of Gardening.2 He was awarded the Victoria Medal of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1971.2 He lived in 1976 at Byworth Edge, Petworth, Sussex, EnglandG.2
