     John William Morton Mansel was born on 2 August 1909.1 He was the son of Algernon Lascelles Mansel and Isita Rodger Wilson.2 He married Gillian Valerie Whinney, daughter of Douglas Harold Whinney, on 3 May 1952.1 He died on 29 July 1974 at age 64.1
     John William Morton Mansel was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and became a POW.3 He was decorated with the award of Territorial Decoration (T.D.).1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 5th Battalion, The Queen's Royal Regiment (Territorial Army).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.).1

     From 3 May 1952, her married name became Mansel. From 3 December 1977, her married name became Barnard.3 She lived in 2003 at 1 Lower Barn, Salford, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England.1

Peter Raffe, son of Joseph Raffe, on 16 August 1978.1 She and J. Peter Raffe were divorced in 1985.1 She married, secondly, Roy Thomas Pickering in 1988.3
     From 16 August 1978, her married name became Raffe. From 1988, her married name became Pickering.3
