     Edmund Clavell Mansel was born on 14 January 1915.1 He was the son of Algernon Lascelles Mansel and Isita Rodger Wilson.2 He married Ann Merriman, daughter of Captain Claud Anthony Merriman, on 15 May 1954.1 He died on 27 March 1997 at age 82.1
     Edmund Clavell Mansel usually went by his middle name of Clavell.3 He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.3 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.3 He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.).1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1960.1 He retired from the military in 1962, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Royal Artillery.1
