David Patrick Fairbairn was born on 30 March 1919.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Bernard William Murray Fairbairn and Alice Mary Phillipps.2 He married Margaret Winifred Ferrers Courage, daughter of Ronald Ernest Ferrers Courage and Nina Elizabeth Last, on 2 September 1950.1 He died on 3 October 2009 at age 90.3
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He retired from the military, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, late of the Royal Navy.1 He was registered as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (F.I.Mar.E.S.T.)1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (M.I.Mech.E.)1 He lived in 2003 at 9 Fishers Close, Bushey, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1

     Margaret Winifred Ferrers Courage was born in 1922 at Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Ronald Ernest Ferrers Courage and Nina Elizabeth Last.3 She married Lt.-Cdr. David Patrick Fairbairn, son of Vice-Admiral Bernard William Murray Fairbairn and Alice Mary Phillipps, on 2 September 1950.1 She died on 5 February 2005.1
     She gained the rank of 2nd Officer in the Women's Royal Naval Service.1 From 2 September 1950, her married name became Fairbairn.
