     Patrick Grant was born on 22 December 1917.1 He was the son of Sir Alfred Hamilton Grant of Dalvey, 12th Bt. and Margaret Lucia Cochran.2 He married Diana Sanderson, daughter of A. G. Sanderson, on 5 April 1961.1 He died in 1972 at Surrey, England.3
     He was educated at Canford School, Wimborne, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1947 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1
