     Lady Gertrude Howard was born on 30 January 1783.1 She was the daughter of Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle and Lady Margaret Caroline Leveson-Gower.1 She married William Sloane-Stanley, son of Hans Sloane and Sarah Fuller, on 23 June 1806.1 She died on 20 March 1870 at age 87.1
     From 23 June 1806, her married name became Sloane.1 From 28 December 1821, her married name became Sloane-Stanley.

     Mary Gertrude Mabel Rooke was the daughter of Joseph Wilson Rooke.2 She married Field Marshal Allan Francis John Harding, 1st Baron Harding of Petherton, son of Francis Ebenezer Harding and Elizabeth Ellen Anstice, on 21 April 1927.1 She died in 1983.1
     From 21 April 1927, her married name became Harding. After her marriage, Mary Gertrude Mabel Rooke was styled as Baroness Harding of Petherton on 15 January 1958.

     John Charles Harding, 2nd Baron Harding of Petherton was born on 12 February 1928.1 He was the son of Field Marshal Allan Francis John Harding, 1st Baron Harding of Petherton and Mary Gertrude Mabel Rooke.2 He married Harriet Hare, daughter of Maj.-Gen. James Francis Hare, on 20 June 1966.1 He died on 6 June 2016 at age 88.3
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He retired from the military in 1968, with the rank of Major, late of the 11th Hussars (PAO.)1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Harding of Petherton, of Nether Compton, co. Dorset [U.K., 1958] in 1989.1 He lived in 2003 at Myrtle Cottage, Lamyatt, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, EnglandG.1
