     Lt.-Col. Francis Richard Maunsell was born on 14 February 1861.1 He was the son of Richard Maunsell and Jane Maria Ledmon.2 He died on 11 September 1929 at age 68, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He was Vice-Consul at Sivas between 1897 and 1898.1 He was Vice-Consul at Van between 1898 and 1901.1 He was Military Attache at Constantinople between 1901 and 1905.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1904.1 He was British Staff Officer, Macedonian Gendarmerie in 1905.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1908 in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He was Acting-Consul at Trebizond in 1908.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1
