He was the son of George Charles Herbert, 4th Earl of Powis and Violet Ida Evelyn Lane-Fox, Baroness Darcy de Knayth. He married Vida Cuthbert, daughter of Captain James Harold Cuthbert, on 18 October 1934. He died in March 1943 at age 38, killed on active service.
