     Lady Alexandra Mary Cadogan was born on 10 March 1920.1 She is the daughter of Gerald Oakley Cadogan, 6th Earl of Cadogan and Lilian Eleanor Marie Coxon.2 She married, firstly, Major Robert Gilliam Buchanan, son of Lt.-Col. Arthur Louis Hamilton Buchanan, on 21 August 1940.1 She and Major Robert Gilliam Buchanan were divorced in 1949.1 She married, secondly, Norman Hutchison Smith on 25 July 1951.1
     From 21 August 1940, her married name became Buchanan. From 25 July 1951, her married name became Smith.
