     James Horatio Hope was born on 12 March 1881.1 He was the son of James Edward Hope and Sophia Edmonstone.2 He died between 17 April 1916 and 18 April 1916 at Mesopotamia, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain and Brevet Major in the Highland Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War, and was mentioned in despatches and was wounded twice.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1
