     William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh was born on 6 October 1832.2 He is the son of John Steel and Grace Strang.2 He married Rosetta Barber on 25 October 1881.2
      Selkirk.2 He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.).2 He was Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Selkirkshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Selkirkshire.1 He was married 2nd Florence Elphinstone (d 24 April 1936), youngest dau of Major-General Burnett Ford, Madras Army on 28 April 1908.2 He was by his 1st wife, with a daughter (Grace Strang, born 25 Nov 1884, DGStJ, married 5 Dec 1905 Lieutenant-General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston of Hunterston, KCB, Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) (died following an accident 18 March 1940), on 2 January 1911.2 On 28 February 1954 died without issue ).2

     Grace Strang Steel was the daughter of William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh.2 She married Sir Aylmer Gould Hunter-Weston, 27th of Hunterston, son of Lt.-Col. Gould Reas Hunter-Weston and Jane Hunter-Weston, 26th of Hunterston, on 5 December 1905.1 She died on 28 February 1954.1
      From 5 December 1905, her married name became Hunter-Weston. She was invested as a Dame of Justice, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (D.J.St.J.) in 1925.1

     Sonia Isabelle Jane Furlong was born on 11 October 1930 at Reading, Berkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Brigadier Dennis Walter Furlong and Nancy Isabelle Cecil Charrington.3 She married Neil Aylmer Hunter, 29th of Hunterston, son of William John Charles Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick and Natalie Bertha Tanner, on 5 July 1952.1 She died on 20 November 2012 at age 82 at Paris, France.2
     She graduated in 1965 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 From 5 July 1952, her married name became Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick. From 28 January 1970, her married name became Hunter. She lived in 2003 at Balcó d'Ordino, Bloc II, Ordino, Andorra.1

     He was given the name of Charles Dennis Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick at birth.3 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England.1 He graduated from University of New South Wales, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Hons.).3 He graduated from University of Technology, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).3
