     George Crichton, 1st of Auchingoul was the son of James Crichton of Frendraught and Lady Elizabeth Gordon.1 He married Jean Irvine, daughter of Sir Alexander Irvine, 10th of Drum and Magdalene Scrymgeour, before 1664.1 He died before 30 July 1702.2
     He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Frendraught [S., 1642] on 26 February 1698, de jure.2 On 19 May 1698 he was served heir to his nephew, James Crichton, 2nd Viscount of Frendraught.2

     Alexander Irvine, 12th of Drum was born circa 1646.1 He was the son of Alexander Irvine, 11th of Drum and Lady Mary Gordon.2 He married Marjory Forbes, daughter of unknown Forbes of Auchreddie.1 He died on 3 January 1696, without surviving issue.1
     The estates by now had dwindled considerably, some sold to pay fines for Jacobitism, the Irvine castle of Fedderet was the last place on the Scottish mainland to hold out for King James VII and II, while the 11th Laird, who had appointed his kinsman Alexander Irvine of Murthill as his executor, had further burdened the estate with onerous provisions for other members of the fmaily.1
