     Henry Beresford Johnstone was born on 26 January 1871.1 He was the son of James Johnstone of Alva and Sarah Mary L'Estrange.2 He died on 30 August 1937 at age 66.1
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Vice-Consul to Tangier between 1912 and 1923, and was formerly at Tunis, Addis Ababa, Zanzibar, and Mogador.1

     Gilbert Lumley Johnstone was born on 16 April 1872.1 He was the son of James Johnstone of Alva and Sarah Mary L'Estrange.2 He married Florence Mabel Fincham, daughter of Arthur William Fincham, on 9 October 1907.1 He died in 1916, on active service.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery.1 He fought in the West African Campaign between 1897 and 1898.1 He was Assistant Inspector of the Gold Coast Constabulary.1 He fought in the Boer War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 112th County Imperial Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Edinburgh Artillery Militia.1 He fought in the First World War.1
