     David Cuthbert Lyall Holland was born on 23 March 1915 at Kensington, London, England.1,2 He was the son of Michael James Holland and Marion Ada Flora Broadwood.3 He married Rosemary Anne Griffiths, daughter of David Llewellyn Griffiths, on 3 September 1949.1 He died on 21 September 2007 at age 92.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Sussex Regiment.1 He was Librarian, House of Commons between 1967 and 1976.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1975.1 He lived in 2003 at The Barn, Milton Street, Polegate, Sussex, EnglandG.1
