     Sir Richard Tihel Leighton, 10th Bt. was born on 13 February 1893.1 He was the son of Sir Bryan Baldwyn Mawdddwy Leighton, 9th Bt. and Margaret Frances Fletcher.2 He married Kathleen Irene Linda Lees, daughter of Major Albert Ernest Lees, on 5 January 1932.1 He died on 26 September 1957 at age 64.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded and became a POW.1 He gained the rank of Flying Officer in the service of the Royal Flying Corps.1 He was Territorial Decoration (T.D.).1 He succeeded to the title of 10th Baronet Leighton, of Wattlesborough, Shropshire [E., 1693] on 19 January 1919.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Shropshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Shropshire.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet-Colonel in the service of the Territorial Army Reserve, Shropshire Yeomanry and Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the service of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Shropshire in 1956.1
