     James Lindsay, 12th of Dowhill was the son of John Lindsay, 11th of Dowhill and Janet Ayton.2 He died in 1705, without issue.1
      12th of Dowhill.1 In 1696 inherited the territorial Barony of Kinloch from his great-uncle William and sold it.1

     Martin Lindsay was born in 1710.1 He was the son of James Lindsay and Mary Watson.2 He married Jean Smythe, daughter of Dr. James Smythe, in 1749.1 He died in 1790, with other issue:.1
      Acquitted of treason.1 Writer (involved in clerical work rather than being a man of letters) Record Office, Edinburgh.1 14th of Dowhill.1 In 1740 sold the last of the estate , took part in the 45 Uprising.1
