     John Lindsay, 6th of Dowhill was the son of Adam Lindsay, 5th of Dowhill.2 He married Marjory Stewart, daughter of Sir James Stewart of Beath and Margaret Lindsay.3 He died in 1566, with at least two daughters (Margaret, m Robert Colville of Cleish issue.1
      Janet, married 1st Andrew Lundie, 2nd Sir William Scott, 3rd, as his 1st wife, Sir George Douglas.1

James Lindsay, 7th of Dowhill1

     James Lindsay, 7th of Dowhill was the son of John Lindsay, 6th of Dowhill.2 He married Janet Ross, daughter of James Ross of Craigie.1 He died in 1591, with 10 other children, including an elder son (James 8th of Dowhill, also held the town and lands of Logie and the territorial Barony of Kinloch, Perthshire (all of which he lost to his younger brother John), married Elizabeth Colville of Cleis.1
      In 1567 reputedly helped MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS escape from Lochleven.1
