     Joan Claire Florence Milne was born on 12 March 1907.¹ She was the daughter of George Francis Milne, 1st Baron Milne and Claire Marjoribanks Maitland.² She married Lt.-Cdr. James Hart Rutland, son of Archibald Hart Rutland, on 16 March 1937.¹ She died on 19 January 1997 at age 89.¹
