     Sir Cecil Pembrey Grey Wakeley, 1st Bt. was born on 5 May 1892.1 He was the son of Percy Wakeley and Mary Sophia Pembrey.2 He married Elizabeth Muriel Nicholson-Smith, daughter of James Nicholson-Smith, on 21 July 1925.1 He died on 5 June 1979 at age 87.1
     He was educated at Dulwich College, Dulwich, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was educated at King's College London, London, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Surgeon-Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.1 He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.) in 1915.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.) in 1921.1 He graduated from London University, London, England, in 1932 with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.) in 1935.1 He was appointed FRACS in 1937.1 He was appointed Fellow, American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) in 1937.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Surgeon Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1941.1 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was created 1st Baronet Wakeley, of Liss, co. Southampton [U.K.] on 30 June 1952.1
