     Colonel Herbert Ellicombe Molesworth was born on 15 December 1872.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Hickman Thomas Molesworth and Marianne Lindsay.2 He married Eileen Mary Renny-Tailyour, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Waugh Renny-Tailyour and Emily Rose Wingfield-Stratford, on 24 February 1914.1 He died on 24 December 1941 at age 69.1
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) Greek.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1
