     John Rattray of Craighall-Rattray, 23rd of Rattray was the son of Dr. John Rattray and Christian Main.2 He married Julia Simpson, daughter of James Simpson.1 He died in November 1799, without issue.1
     He was Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service in 1779.1

Janet Rattray1

     Margaret Rattray was born on 22 June 1702.1 She was the daughter of Rt. Rev. Thomas Rattray of Craighall-Rattray, 20th of Rattray and Hon. Margaret Galloway.2 A contract for the marriage of Margaret Rattray and John Clerk of Listonshiels and Spittal was signed on 27 October 1720.1 She died on 23 May 1744 at age 41.1
     From 27 October 1720, her married name became Clerk.

     David Clerk was born on 27 October 1724.1 He was the son of John Clerk of Listonshiels and Spittal and Margaret Rattray.2 He married Helen Duff, daughter of James Duff of Craigston, on 4 May 1761.1 He died on 10 May 1768 at age 43.1
     He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He was Physician at Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1

     Helen Duff was the daughter of James Duff of Craigston.1 She married David Clerk, son of John Clerk of Listonshiels and Spittal and Margaret Rattray, on 4 May 1761.1 She died on 26 January 1812.1
     From 4 May 1761, her married name became Clerk.

James Clerk-Rattray of Craighall-Rattray, 24th of Rattray1

     James Clerk-Rattray of Craighall-Rattray, 24th of Rattray was born on 3 November 1763.1 He is the son of David Clerk and Helen Duff.2 He married Jane Duff, daughter of Admiral Robert Duff of Logie and Fetteresso, on 3 January 1791.1 He died on 29 August 1831 at age 67.1
     He held the office of Sheriff Depute of Edinburgh.1 He held the office of a Baron of the Exchequer.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1817.1 In 1817 his name was legally changed to James Clerk-Rattray under the terms of Bishop Rattray's will.1 He was a friend of Sir Walter Scott, who allegedly modelled the Tully-Veolan of Waverley partly on Craighall.1
In 1830 he declined a baronetcy.1

     Patrick Hay, 1st of Pitfour was born after 1596.1 He was the son of Patrick Hay, 5th of Megginch and Isabel Cheyne.1 He married Helen Lindsay, daughter of Reverend Alexander Lindsay and Barbara Bruce.1 He died on 4 August 1662 at Pitfour, Perthshire, Scotland.1
