     Brig.-Gen. William Stirling was born on 15 March 1876 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England.1,2 He was the son of General Sir William Stirling and Anna Christian Stirling.3 He married Kathleen Henrietta Garratt, daughter of Lt.-Col. John Arthur Thomas Garratt, in 1915.1 He died on 31 October 1949 at age 73.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Commander between 1928 and 1932 in the 2nd Division, Aldershot.1 He retired from the military in 1932, with the rank of Brigadier-General, late of the Royal Artillery.1

     Brigadier Walter Andrew Stirling was born on 5 August 1883 at Nussteads, Polstead, Suffolk, England.1,2 He was the son of General Sir William Stirling and Anna Christian Stirling.3 He married Louie Rosa Margueritha Faber, daughter of Johan Valdemar Faber, on 3 June 1914.1 He died in 1972.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1907 and 1909 in the South Nigerian Regiment.1 He fought in the Niger Cross River Expedition.1 He fought in the First World War, in France.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He retired from the military in 1944, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the Royal Field Artillery.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk in 1958.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 1 September 1970.1
