     Colonel Reginald Thompson was born on 12 May 1884.1 He was the son of Reginald Thompson and Frances Harriet Royds.2 He married, firstly, Marjorie Olive Arthur, daughter of James Arthur and Olive Juana Stewart, on 2 August 1922.1 He married, secondly, Ruth Eleanor Hodgson, daughter of Reverend John Henry Hodgson, on 16 November 1932.1 He died on 5 November 1965 at age 81.1
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet-Colonel in the Queen's Own Yorkshire Dragoons.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1920.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nottinghamshire.1
