     Mary Murray Usher was born on 19 November 1884.1 She was the daughter of Andrew Usher and Marion Blackwood Murray.2 She married Colonel Chichester de Windt Crookshank, 7th of Drumhalry, son of Arthur Chichester William Crookshank, on 31 March 1910.1 She died on 2 July 1960 at age 75.1
     She was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)1

Sir John Usher, 1st Bt.1

     Sir John Usher, 1st Bt. was born on 18 January 1828.1 He was the son of Andrew Usher and Margaret Balmer.2 He married Mary Anne Balmer, daughter of Thomas Balmer, on 18 August 1853.1 He died on 24 March 1904 at age 76.1
     In 1898 at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, he was founder of the chair of public health.1 He was created 1st Baronet Usher, of Norton, Ratho, co. Midlothian and of Wells, Hobkirk, co. Roxburgh [U.K.] on 29 August 1899.1 He was a distiller and senior partner of Andrew Usher & Company.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Caithness.1 In 1902 he built a public health institute.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, in 1903.1
