     General Alexander Carnegie was born on 30 June 1829.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Alexander Carnegie and Isabella Don.2 He married, firstly, Frances Jane Whitehead, daughter of John Whitehead, on 27 December 1853.1 He married, secondly, Augusta Ker, daughter of Robert D. Ker, on 29 December 1859.1 He married, thirdly, Helen Meta Forbes, daughter of Charles Henry Forbes, in 1889.1 He died on 25 October 1900 at age 71.1
     He gained the rank of Genral in the Bengal Staff Corps.1
