     Nigel Loftus Henry Fane was born on 25 July 1904.2 He was the son of Sydney Algernon Fane and Selina Violet Fitzwygram.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Henrietta Hussey, daughter of Henry Percy Hussey and Margaret Anne Peel, on 12 January 1935.2 He and Catherine Henrietta Hussey were divorced in 1959.2 He married, secondly, Dorothy Mai Farrington, daughter of John Farrington, on 11 May 1960.2 He and Dorothy Mai Farrington were divorced in 1971.2 He died on 4 June 1973 at age 68.2
     Nigel Loftus Henry Fane was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England.2 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Commander between 1939 and 1941 in the service of the Royal Navy Reserve, in H.M.S. Fervent.2 He gained the rank of Commander between 1941 and 1945 in the service of the Royal Navy Reserve, on the staff of AOC-in-C, Coastal Command, Royal Air Force.2 He was decorated with the award of Reserve Decoration (R.D.).2
