     Lt.-Cdr. Edward Smyth-Osbourne was born on 9 June 1884 at Stapleton, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was the son of John Smyth Smyth-Osbourne and Eliza Cotton Prior.1 He died on 31 May 1916 at age 31, killed in action on board H.M.S. Invincible.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.1
