     John Smith Cuninghame was born on 27 January 1921.1 He was the son of Robert Dick Smith Cuninghame and Doris Melles.1 He died on 22 October 1943 at age 22 at Minturno, Italy, killed in action.2
     He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards.1

     Douglas Alexander Smith Cuninghame was born on 14 July 1865.1 He was the son of William Cathcart Smith Cuninghame, 14th of Caprington and Maria Anstruther.1 He died on 18 March 1942 at age 76.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1887 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1888 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1891 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1

     Mary Anne Smith Cuninghame was born on 12 February 1850.1 She was the daughter of William Cathcart Smith Cuninghame, 14th of Caprington and Maria Anstruther.1 She married, firstly, James Alexander Tait on 16 May 1873.1 She married, secondly, Colonel Andrew Harry Spencer Smith-Neill, son of General unknown Smith-Neill, on 28 February 1884.1 She died on 12 June 1912 at age 62.1
     From 16 May 1873, her married name became Tait.1 From 28 February 1884, her married name became Smith-Neill.1

James Alexander Tait1

     James Alexander Tait married Mary Anne Smith Cuninghame, daughter of William Cathcart Smith Cuninghame, 14th of Caprington and Maria Anstruther, on 16 May 1873.1 He died on 9 September 1879, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Dragoon Guards.1

Colonel Andrew Harry Spencer Smith-Neill1

     Colonel Andrew Harry Spencer Smith-Neill was the son of General unknown Smith-Neill.1 He married Mary Anne Smith Cuninghame, daughter of William Cathcart Smith Cuninghame, 14th of Caprington and Maria Anstruther, on 28 February 1884.1 He died on 14 March 1887, shot by a fanatic trooper while at the head of his regiment.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 2nd Central Indian Horse.1
