     Henry Frederick Erskine Tufnell was born on 5 May 1903.1 He was the son of Reverend Frederick Tufnell and Lady Frances Elizabeth Erskine.1 He married Susan Mary Pember, daughter of Henry Cecil Pember and Evelyn Mary Selby-Bigge, on 11 June 1936.1 He died on 24 September 1982 at age 79 at Eastbourne, Sussex, England.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1946, with Sussex T.A. in Ethiopia and Italy.1 He lived in 1965 at Greenvale Farm, Cross-in-Hand, Sussex, England.1
