     Joan Elspeth Tomes was the daughter of Charles Alexander Tomes.1 She married Arthur Windham Baldwin, 3rd Earl Baldwin of Bewdley, son of Sir Stanley Baldwin, 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley and Lucy Ridsdale, on 25 August 1936.1 She died in 1980.1
     From 25 August 1936, her married name became Baldwin.1 As a result of her marriage, Joan Elspeth Tomes was styled as Countess Baldwin of Bewdley on 10 August 1958.
