     Sir Hywel y Fwyall ap Gruffudd was the son of Gruffudd ap Hywel and Angharad ferch Tegwared.1 He died circa 1381.1
     He held the office of Constable of Cricieth Castle.1 Sir Hywel y Fwyall ap Gruffudd also went by the nick-name of Hywel y Fwyall (or in English, of the battle-axe).1 He fought in the Battle of Crecy on 26 August 1346.1 He fought in the Battle of Poitiers on 19 September 1356.1
