     Jonkheer Cornelis Backer was born on 20 November 1798 at Groningen, The Netherlands.1 He was the son of Jan Willem Jacobus Backer and Josina Petronella Sichterman.1 He married Johanna Maria Leopoldina Catharina Brantsen, daughter of Gerard Brantsen and Andrea Helena Mossel, on 26 October 1826 at Arnhem, The Netherlands.1 He died on 30 June 1864 at age 65 at Zwolle, The Netherlands.1
     On 16 September 1815 he was elevated to the Dutch nobility and granted the hereditary prefix of Jonkheer.1 He was King's Commissioner in the province of Overijssel between 1850 and 1864.1
