Thomas O'Hagan, 1st Baron O'Hagan was born on 29 May 1812.1 He was the son of Edward O'Hagan and Mary Bell. He married, firstly, Mary Teeling, daughter of Charles Hamilton Teeling, on 5 February 1836. He married, secondly, Alice Mary Towneley, daughter of Charles Towneley and Lady Caroline Harriett Molyneux, on 2 August 1871. He died on 1 February 1885 at age 72.
He was educated Belfast Academical Instn.1 He gained the title of 1st Baron O'Hagan. He was barrister Dublin , Ireland: Commissioner of Nat Educn 1857–85, Bencher King's Inns 1859, Third Serjeant 1859–60, Slr-Gen 1860–61, Attorney-Gen 1861–65, Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Lib) Tralee 1863–65, Justice Common Pleas 1865–68, Lord Chllr (1st in 1836.1 He was Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1849.1 He was Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1861.1 On 14 June 1870 so created.1 He was Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) in 1882.1
