     Commander John Bruce was born on 30 July 1838.1 He was the son of John Wyndham Bruce and Mary Anne Pryce Cameron.1 He married Annie Boyes, daughter of Reverend George Boyes, in 1870.1 He died on 15 May 1880 at age 41, drowned.1
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1
