     James Balfour was born in 1652.1 He was the son of James Balfour and Beatrice Chalmers.1 He married Helen Smith, daughter of unknown Smith, in 1679 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He died in 1703.1
     James Balfour was a merchant.1 He held the office of Governor of Darien County.1
