     Lt.-Col. George Wilson was born on 6 November 1782. He was the son of Rt. Hon. John Smyth and Lady Georgiana Fitzroy.1 He married Sarah Wilson, daughter of Daniel Wilson and Sarah Harper, in 1811.1 He died on 3 March 1853 at age 70.1
     He was given the name of George Smyth at birth.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Guards.1 His name was legally changed to George Wilson.1
