James Granville Lucas was born on 8 March 1932.1 He is the son of Arthur John Lucas and Margaret Ruth Baxendale.2 He married, firstly, Suzanne Molly Talbot-Ponsonby, daughter of Edward Fitzroy Talbot-Ponsonby and Bertha Marie-Louise Muriel Barber, on 5 October 1957.1 He and Suzanne Molly Talbot-Ponsonby were divorced in 1973.1 He married, secondly, Ann Marie Mason in 1973.1
James Granville Lucas was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He was educated at H.M.S. Hawke, England.1 He was commissioned in 1950, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He retired from the military, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander.1 He was an insurance broker.1 He lived in 2003 at Yew Tree Cottage, Port Navas, Falmouth, Cornwall, England.1
