     Robert Preston, Lord Gorton was the son of Sir John Preston, 4th of Valleyfield and Grizel Colville.1 He married Margaret Bothwell, daughter of Alexander Bothwell of Glencourse and Mary Stewart.1 He died in October 1764.1
     He held the office of Lord of Session.1 He was styled as Lord Gorton [Scots Law Lord].
