     William Selwyn was born on 14 June 1732.1 He was the son of Henry Selwyn and Ruth Compton.1 He married Frances Elizabeth Dod, daughter of Dr. John Dod, on 15 September 1763.1 He died on 21 August 1817 at age 85.1
     He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Whitchurch between 1783 and 1790.1 He held the office of Treasurer of Lincoln's Inn in 1793.1
