Lt.-Cdr. Christopher Montague Vernon Francis Dalrymple-Hay was born on 9 November 1896.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Stair Francis Barton Dalrymple-Hay and Laura Mary Edith Catherine de Bouillion Wickham.2 He married, firstly, Mary Teresa Mostyn, daughter of Lt.-Col. Edward Henry Joseph Mostyn and Mary Cecily Talbot, on 27 February 1919.1 He and Mary Teresa Mostyn were divorced in 1929.1 He married, secondly, Helen Violet Grierson, daughter of H. K. Grierson, on 30 November 1929.1 He died on 20 December 1944 at age 48, while on active service.3
