Major Gilbert Byng Alwyne Russell was born on 1 June 1875.1 He was the son of Lord Arthur John Edward Russell and Laura de Peyronnet.1 He married Maud Nelke, daughter of Paul Nelke, on 14 March 1917.1 He died on 28 May 1942 at age 66.1
Major Gilbert Byng Alwyne Russell fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1898, including Khartoum.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Bedfordshire Yeomanry.1
