     General Charles Stanhope, 3rd Earl of Harrington was born on 17 March 1753.1 He was the son of William Stanhope, 2nd Earl of Harrington and Lady Caroline Fitzroy.1 He married Jane Fleming, daughter of Sir John Fleming, 1st and last Bt. and Jane Coleman, on 23 May 1779 at London, England.1 He died on 5 September 1829 at age 76.1
     He succeeded to the title of 3rd Earl of Harrington, co. Northampton [G.B., 1742] on 1 April 1779.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Harrington, co. Northampton [G.B., 1730] on 1 April 1779.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Viscount Petersham of Petersham, co. Surrey [G.B., 1742] on 1 April 1779.1 He held the office of Governor and Constable of Windsor Castle.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the 1st Life Guards.1 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.).1

     He fought in the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the 2nd Troop Horse, Grenadier Guards.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Petersham of Petersham, co.
